About Me...
Qualifications and Experience...
After studying at King Alfred's College (now Winchester University) from 1991-1995, I qualified with a B.Ed Hons in Primary Education with QTS (Qualified Teacher Status), specialising in English and Maths.I have up to date Safe Guarding training (22-23) including Prevent. I also hold a current, enhanced DBS certificate. Evidence of these, are available on request.
I have taught in various Primary and Junior Schools in Southampton and Gosport. Having only recently left whole class teaching, I have 27+ years experience and an up to date knowledge of the curriculum content in KS1 and 2. I am also familiar and confident in teaching within KS3.
Throughout my career, I have been involved in several Ofsted inspections, where my lesson observations have been graded Good to Outstanding. I maintain high standards within my teaching by ensuring that children have clear targets, a clear routine through well organised, personalised sessions. An awareness of my expectations and boundaries is important in establishing good relationships from the initial introduction. I am especially proud of the strong relationships that I have built with pupils over the years based largely on trust with a little humour on the side where needed!
Beliefs...
All children are unique. They have different learning styles and strengths. I believe that this extremely important to identify these as quickly as possible when supporting a new student.
I am an open and honest person and believe that children need to have trust in their teachers in order for them make the progress they deserve. Academic progress comes by building a child's self belief and confidence.
